Arsenal coach, Arsene Wenger/File

Senate President Bukola Saraki has described the resignation Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger as “one piece of good news.”

Wenger had on Friday announced he would be leaving the North London side after 22 years,  ending a long tenure that got him three Premier League titles.

And the former Kwara state governor who is an Arsenal fan, took to his Twitter handle, writing that, ”With all that is going on, this is one piece of good news. Finally, @Arsenal is doing the right thing.

”While looking forward to the future, we must all remember that Arsene Wenger built a strong foundation for the future.

”This will be the end of an era. #MerciArsene.”
