Liverpool fans will love the advice of Mo Salah’s former Egypt manager on his club future

Hassan Shehata, the former manager of the Egyptian national team, has today provided some advice to Mohamed Salah, regarding his fellow countryman’s club future.

Big-money arrival

Egyptian wide-man Salah made his return to the Premier League last summer, after Liverpool splashed out a fee that could eventually rise to 50 million Euro to bring the former Chelsea man in from Serie A outfit AS Roma.

And he has certainly not taken long to settle back into the rigours of the English game, having already popped up with an incredible 38 goals across all competitions to this point in the campaign.

Bernabeu bound?

Unsurprisingly, Salah’s sensational exploits on Merseyside have seen the African wide-man inevitably linked with a move to some of Europe’s other top clubs, with Spanish giants Real Madrid the side most-persistently linked with an offer for his services.

Los Blancos are known to be on the lookout for reinforcements in attacking areas, with Cristiano Ronaldo having turned 33 last month, Gareth Bale continually struggling to regain full fitness, and Karim Benzema failing to rediscover top form.

‘The biggest star’

However, while Salah may have more chance of securing regular trophies with one of La Liga’s top sides than he does at Anfield, many have urged the brilliant African to continue his adventure on Merseyside, at least beyond this summer.

And the latest to suggest that remaining with Liverpool would be the best career choice for Salah for the time being is the 25-year-old’s former Egyptian national manager, Hassan Shehata.

Speaking in an interview on Egyptian TV, (and since cited by the Liverpool Echo), Shehata revealed his opinion that a move to either Real Madrid or Barcelona would see Salah play second-fiddle to either Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi, a decision which may not be the best for his career:

‘It is honour to us when we talk about Mohamed Salah.’

‘He did a great job this year with Liverpool. He can either leave for Barcelona or Real Madrid, or he can stay with Liverpool.’

‘It is up to him, but I think he should play for the team who will always let him play.’

‘Salah is the biggest star with Liverpool, but with Real Madrid he will be under the shadow of Cristiano Ronaldo – and that’s what made Neymar leave Barcelona, because he wanted to be out of Lionel Messi’s shadow.’

‘Salah should think very well before he leaves Liverpool and get advice from trustworthy professional people, then he will take the best decision for himself.’
