Harry Kane is coming for Mohamed Salah.
Whilst the Tottenham Hotspur striker was briefly on the treatment table with an ankle injury, the Liverpool star took full advantage in the race to claim this season's Golden Boot award.
When Kane went off against Bournemouth last month, the pair were locked on 24 goals in the top flight of English football. However, three weeks later and it's all change.
Salah netted four times in the Reds' 5-0 thrashing of Watford at Anfield prior to the international break and was once again on the scoresheet in the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace at the weekend, thus moving him onto 29 goals.
It means Kane has some catching up to do in Spurs' final seven games of the league campaign. He does have a one game advantage over the Egypt international and has welcomed the battle from the former Chelsea forward who has impressed since returning to England from AS Roma last summer.
Harry Kane is fit again
“Salah’s done fantastic, he’s a great great player. Yeah, it’s competition. I had the same last year," Kane told the Daily Mirror.
“For me, I’ve got to focus on my own game and my own team, and we’ll see what happens come the end of the season.
“He’s obviously got a bit of a head start now, and we’ll see what happens. I can’t control what he does, so I’ve just got to make sure I prepare well for games and just be ready.”
Competition is something Kane should be used to.
Last season he was embroiled in a battle with another striker from Merseyside in Romelu Lukaku as it appeared the former Everton forward was going to take home the prize as the league's top scorer.
Only to be denied by Kane in the final days of the campaign as he struck seven times in his final two appearances of the 2016/17 season to finish on 29 goals.
