Alexandre Lacazette.
Big things were expected of Alexandre Lacazette after Arsenal signed him from Lyon for £46.5 million, but so far he has not proven his worth.
The French international had been one of the most prolific strikers in world football during his time in France.
In the three seasons prior to his move to north London, he had scored 91 goals in 129 appearances for Lyon.
But he has struggled in England, scoring just 12 times in 31 appearances.
His form was worrying enough for Arsene Wenger to break their transfer record to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January, suggesting he did not have full confidence in his countryman's abilities.
FRANK LAMPARD QUESTIONS LACAZETTE
Lacazette has been in good form of late having notched three goals in his last three games.
But many are left unconvinced, including Frank Lampard.
In his column for the Evening Standard, Lampard revealed his belief that Lacazette has not done enough this season.
Lampard has noticed that he is not making runs behind defenders, something that be believes is strange.
"I have watched a lot of Lacazette this season and so far he hasn’t done enough for me as a striker," Lampard said.
"I just don’t understand why he is not testing the backline all the time by running in behind. He is quick enough and has come to the Premier League from Lyon with a goal-scoring pedigree."
And Lampard has not been impressed by the body language he is displaying on the pitch.
"But his body language has just not looked right at times. He looks like a player who doesn’t want to make those kind of runs. It is strange because Arsenal have the players that slip balls through.
"Aubameyang is already taking advantage of that - he knows running into the box is where you get your chances."
The Chelsea legend also claimed that Lacazette is visibly hurt by Arsenal's decision to break their transfer record to sign another striker in Aubameyang.
"Now is the time Lacazette has to cut out everything going on outside. He is a bit hurt that the club have gone out and spent money in January on Aubameyang but it’s still all there for him.
"Aubameyang is cup-tied in the Europa League so he knows there is a great chance to start every game.
"Arsenal will need him if they get past CSKA Moscow as expected on Thursday and then play teams like Atletico Madrid or Lazio in the last four.
"If he can show he can react, then there’s nothing wrong with Arsenal having two top strikers in the squad, whether they play together or are rotated."
Lampard raises a good point. Lacazette is not getting himself in positions to score as regularly as he should do.
With the likes of Mesut Ozil assisting him, he can have no complaints about a lack of service.
As Lampard mentioned, the 26-year-old is quick enough to run in behind defenders, but for whatever reason, he has not been doing that.
Maybe the 26-year-old will start to thrive in a red shirt if he takes Lampard's advice.
